The client

The client in question is one of the world's leading medical technology companies, helping to improve patient and hospital outcomes. It is active in more than 100 countries around the world and reports revenues approaching $10 billion.

The challenge

Reputation counts a lot in the medical technology sector and the client has an excellent reputation in its home market and many countries around the world. However, the client was having challenges with its Employee Value Proposition internally and was aware that “one size fits all” does not apply when it comes to an EVP. Some elements are more appealing to colleagues in one region vs another, for example, when it announced that it was setting up a new plant in Ireland, our Talent Solutions team partnered with the company to build maximum awareness of its employer brand—exceptional careers for exceptional people—in a way that appealed to the local context.

The solution

A strong employee value proposition (EVP) is key to attracting the best talent now and in the future. Building brand awareness is therefore an important element in establishing a regional talent pool in a new geography.

Our Talent Solutions team understood that talent pooling could help establish relationships with a pool of potential candidates who possess the key competencies that best suit the employer’s needs. Building a talent pool is an effective way of building reputation and ensuring that a constant flow of candidates is available when needed.

Morgan McKinley engaged with 3,500 potential candidates, explaining the corporate culture and benefits of a career with the client, which is not only strongly committed to learning and development but is also well positioned to offer many growth opportunities, including the possibility to move geographically, functionally, laterally, and vertically.

In addition to the strong financial benefits offered to employees, the company places a very high value on its connections to patients and caregivers, employee empowerment, diversity, and inclusion, as well as philanthropic initiatives. It is also highly family-oriented and committed to work-life balance: factors that have a strong appeal in Ireland.

The benefits

With the support of our Talent Solutions team, the company has reaped significant benefits. Access to a talent pool comprising not only of suitably qualified candidates, but also highly motivated individuals dedicated to enhancing patient lives through product development has been secured. This ensures the identification of staff who are deeply passionate about ongoing projects and seamlessly fit into the broader organisational ethos.

The talent pooling team, adept at promoting the employee value proposition, has engaged thousands of professionals, providing them with a memorable experience for their future career considerations. This proactive approach establishes a foundation for nurturing long-term relationships with talented engineers and product developers, ensuring the company's continued relevance to their career aspirations.

Additionally, Morgan McKinley has furnished invaluable market intelligence on the MedTech engineering employment market. This information has enabled the company to refine its employee value proposition within the Irish market, maintaining competitiveness and attractiveness to top talent in the industry.
