Up, down or flat? The state of salaries.
Front Office professionals on the Buy-side have been asking for 30%+ increments, and firms are willing to offer them to strong candidates who have solid client relationships. We’ve also seen more sign-on bonuses as hiring organisations seek to ease candidates’ concerns about moving.
The picture has been slightly different across Operations; salaries stayed largely flat with a few cases of low increases, and bonus payments have been low or delayed.
Major banks are likely to focus on increasing their existing employees’ salaries in 2024 in order to mitigate the chances of staff turnover. This will also mean that any new hires can expect salary offers to be pushed up in line.
