Product Development Specialist (Outerwear & Performance-wear)

The Opportunity:

We're hiring a highly motivated and creative Product Development Specialist to support the overall PD program for outerwear (functional sportswear) and performance-wear collections. You'll be instrumental in the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to final production, working closely with design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities:

• Conduct market research and analyze trends in outerwear and performance-wear to identify new product opportunities.
• Translate design concepts and sketches into detailed technical specifications and construction details.
• Source and evaluate new materials, trims, and technologies to enhance product performance and aesthetics.
• Develop prototypes and samples, working closely with pattern makers, sewers, and manufacturers.
• Manage the fit and construction of garments, ensuring they meet performance and comfort requirements.
• Oversee the testing and evaluation of prototypes, including lab testing and field testing with athletes.
• Collaborate with sourcing and manufacturing teams to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage the product development timeline and budget, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Work closely with marketing and sales teams to develop product launch plans and promotional materials.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor products, and technological advancements in outerwear and performance fabrics.
• Travel to factories and trade shows as needed.
• Manage and maintain product documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and test reports.
• Ensure products comply with relevant safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Engineering, or a related field.
• 9+ years of experience in product development, specifically in outerwear and/or performance-wear.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and sewing techniques.
• Extensive knowledge of performance fabrics, insulation materials, and waterproof/breathable technologies.
• Experience with fit sessions and garment alterations.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for outdoor activities and a strong understanding of the needs of athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with overseas manufacturing is a plus.
