Our client, based in Cork, is looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual to join their dynamic and innovative manufacturing company. This business delivers high quality products into the Pharma, Medical Device and Technology industries and works to ISO450001, ISO14001 & ISO9001 accreditation which this individual will actively support in the certification and re-certification of.
As the Quality and H&S Manager, you will ensure the highest standards of Health and Safety across the business whilst leading the development and implementation of effective H&S policies and procedures. You will ensure Quality systems and processes are adhered to and understood to meet their customers bespoke quality requirements. This is a hands on role with a close working relationship with operations and will have one direct report.
Overview of the role:
- Help drive the culture across the manufacturing site in quality, and health & safety policies, guidelines and processes.
- Encourage and support H&S and Quality compliance, continuously improving site performance across both areas
- Engaging with workers in relation to upskilling and understanding the approach to delivering world class infrastructure.
- Stay updated with relevant H&S and ISO standards legislation and updates
- Lead safety audits, analyse findings, and suggest improvements
- Maintain existing management systems, improving where required.
- Ensure correct safety processes & procedures are in place and are being followed by all, with ability to create and implement new procedures where necessary.
- Ensure all required records are being generated and saved accordingly.
- Identify areas of risk, assess, and develop measures to reduce and control.
- Investigate accidents/incidents & track actions to closure.
- Provide advice and support to colleagues on H&S and quality matters.
- Carry out regular safety walks/inspections/audits to measure compliance with site procedures and legal requirements.
- Manage customer and internal audits including management reviews.
- Manage internal activities programme with corrective and preventive actions recorded and educated to relevant departments.
- Assist with investigation of quality problems, identification of causes and development of cost-effective corrective and preventative actions in order to ensure the integrity of quality management within the business.
- Provision of training to new hires and existing staff on H&S and Quality related topics
- Other projects and responsibilities as defined.
Skills and Experience
- 3rd level qualification in Occupational H&S, Quality and Compliance Standards or equivalent
- Experience with ISO standards - internal auditor qualification useful
- 5+ years' experience in a similar role desired
- Experience with investigations, audits, inspections, compiling reports and making recommendations as appropriate
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Ensure risk assessments are up to date and relevant and suitable training is provided as needed
- Driven individual with ability to work on own initiative or in a team as required
- Proven people skills required and a strong team player
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Professional and Technical written communication skills
- Ability to engage and motivate others and implement new processes and procedures where required
- Certification to provide Manual Handling training and Ergonomics assessment is desirable.
- Understand the compliance requirements in relation to ISO450001, ISO14001 & ISO9001.
