Credit Underwriter |Permanenet| Hybrid - Dublin
An innovative and market-leading car finance provider in Ireland is seeking a Credit Underwriter to joing their growing team.This role is essential to the successful day-to-day running of the Underwriting Department. Reporting directly to the Underwriting Manager, the Credit Underwriter will be responsible for making credit decisions on customer applications submitted through partner dealerships. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and be comfortable making credit decisions under pressure, following the company's credit policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a fast-paced Credit Department, applying company values to ensure efficient and effective team operations.
- Underwrite retail and lease finance applications within assigned underwriting authority limits.
- Maintain quality control of approved business, ensuring adherence to retail policy, procedures, and guidelines.
- Identify and implement potential improvements in processes and systems for the fleet and retail business, enhancing the quality of service and product offerings.
- Provide recommendations on applications beyond delegated underwriting authority and present cases to management as needed.
- Prepare and present credit applications to the credit committee for cases exceeding delegated authority.
- Display strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage responsibilities and collaborate with team members and other departments.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to maximize new business opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Financial Services qualification or equivalent (desirable but not required).
- APA/ QFA qualififed
- Minimum 2 years of underwriting experience
- Strong analytical and technical skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel (intermediate level).
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken).
