The Utility Project Engineer will report to the Senior Manager for Strategic Engineering Projects and be responsible for scoping and executing technical projects across utility areas supporting all facility operations. The role requires experience with systems such as Controlled Temperature Units (e.g. cold rooms, fridges, freezers), GMP HVAC, and various Clean and Non-Clean Utilities (e.g. WFI, purified water, glycol, instrument air). The engineer will oversee the commissioning and qualification of new equipment and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute assigned projects, including prioritising tasks, resource allocation, progress tracking, and external communication.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scopes and ensure all requirements are met from concept through to design, construction, commissioning, and operation.
- Introduce new processes, equipment, and materials, solving issues and troubleshooting prior to qualification and start-up.
- Support the development and implementation of maintenance programmes and optimise spare parts inventory within the scope of project delivery.
- Develop and manage change controls and contribute to multidisciplinary site and cross-site teams.
- Produce detailed specifications, engineering documents, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with System Owners, Maintenance Supervisors, Technicians, Capital Project Engineers, and Vendors to upgrade or retrofit equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company policies and procedures.
- Promote a safe working environment by adhering to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Travel may be required to support project execution.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant experience.
- Typically, 3+ years of engineering experience, preferably in a GMP manufacturing environment.
- Proven project management experience.
- Strong mechanical capability with hands-on experience in a technical role within similar areas.
- Experience in a GDP-compliant environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and Change Control & Document Management Systems.
- Ability to work cross-functionally, delivering technical solutions and implementing improvements.
- Solid leadership and teamwork skills, embracing an interdependent working culture that drives results.
- Excellent technical report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Data-driven decision-maker with the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
