Senior Credit Analyst | Permanent | Dublin | Hybrid
Our Client is a global bank and are seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to join their credit team. The successful candidate will report to the head of credit and collaborate closely with Relationship Managers to manage lending risks associated with an assigned client base. This role focuses on ensuring risks are understood, mitigated, and appropriately priced.
**The client portfolio primarily consists of large corporates in the Food and Agribusiness sector.**
The Senior Credit Analyst will play a pivotal role in producing detailed, risk-focused credit applications, engaging with approvers, and obtaining timely credit decisions. This role reports directly to the Head of Credit and is part of a four-person team.
Responsibilities:
Credit Risk Management
- Expertly produce projections, including base case and downside case scenarios.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of accounting principles, especially cash flows.
- Draft clear, concise, and focused credit applications.
- Monitor macroeconomic conditions and assess potential impacts on the client portfolio.
- Identify and mitigate structural risks effectively.
- Work with capital and return calculations, utilizing internal systems.
- Set, analyze, test, and monitor covenants.
- Conduct financial covenant checks, collateral reviews, and annual credit reviews to monitor portfolio performance.
- Proactively address deteriorating customer risk profiles in line with policy.
- Review legal documentation (e.g., LMA, ISDA) to ensure compliance with credit approvals.
- Maintain meticulous records and attention to detail.
- Understand risks related to sustainability, operations, and KYC requirements.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members.
Client Engagement
- Collaborate proactively with Relationship Managers to identify client and market needs.
- Assess and price risk for new and existing relationships.
- Respond promptly to urgent client requests.
- Participate in customer meetings and client visits.
Networking and Communication
- Engage effectively with stakeholders, including Relationship Managers, product groups, credit admin, and the credit team.
- Maintain strong connections with internal risk functions and regional risk teams.
Requirements
- Third-level degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years experience as a Senior Credit Analyst preferably in Banking or Corporate Banking.
- Proficiency in Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Fluent English (written and verbal).
Technical Competencies:
- Proficient in producing focused and relevant credit applications.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles and cash flow statements.
- Experienced with LMA legal documentation.
- Skilled in identifying warning signs of deteriorating credit profiles.
- Knowledge of ECB leveraged lending definitions and banking products, including derivatives.
- Familiarity with credit approval processes and audit functions.
