We are partnering with a leading public sector client to recruit a programme executive to join a high performing team to work specifically across sustainable energy associated with buildings!
The team plays a critical role in ensuring that the necessary technical expertise is available to achieve home energy upgrade targets, as outlined in the Climate Action Plan and other key Government policies.
The team is multi-faceted working across Technical Standards and Quality, High-Performance Building Retrofits, EPBD Concerted Action, Building Energy Rating (BER) methodology, BER software and systems, and BER operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of embodied carbon calculation methodologies and establish an embodied carbon database.
- Support the integration of GWP ratings into the BER system for new buildings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet the goals set out in the Climate Action Plan.
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum Level 7 qualification on the NFQ in a relevant technical or operational field such as Environmental Science, Engineering (Structural, Mechanical, Civil, Environmental), Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Economics, Sustainability, or Circular Economy.
- At least three years of relevant experience in building design, life cycle assessment, or similar fields
- Strong skills in data extraction and analysis.
- Excellent project management, organisational, and business process development skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with Building Energy Ratings (BER) and the BER methodology.
- Knowledge of building materials, products, and systems.
- Background in environmental engineering or sustainable building design.
- Experience with sustainable construction certification systems like LEED or BREEAM.
- Knowledge of LCA tools such as IGBC Indicate Methodology, Ecoinvent, OpenLCA, SimaPro, or GaBi.
- Familiarity with life cycle assessment standards (EN 15978), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for construction (EN 15804), and ISO standards (ISO 14040, 14044, 14025).
- Experience with BIM, Revit, and/or ICMS.
- Experience in modelling carbon factors for fuels.
