(Haken) Data Engineer - Domo & ETL - BSS Systems Japan
About the job
This position plays a key role in advancing data utilization within large-scale BSS (Business Support Systems) for a major corporate MNO business in Japan.
As a Data Engineer, you will use Domo to design, develop, and maintain ETL processes and analytical reports that directly support corporate sales decision-making.
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle-from requirements gathering and design to testing, release, and ongoing optimization-within a mission-critical enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and optimize queries created by the BSS engineering team to improve performance and data accuracy
- Design and build Domo-based ETL pipelines based on requirements from business users
- Investigate, debug, and resolve issues related to reports and data pipelines
- Create test plans for data pipelines and execute release activities
- Collaborate closely with user departments, engineers, and related teams to ensure stable data delivery
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience working with relational databases (RDB)
- 7+ years of experience using SQL for complex data extraction and transformation
- 3-5 years of experience developing new scripts and fixing bugs using Python
- Practical experience in system development using multiple programming languages
Soft Skills:
- Strong requirements-gathering skills to accurately translate user needs into technical specifications
- Logical problem-solving ability to analyze complex data structures and identify root causes
- Strong communication skills to collaborate smoothly with team members and related departments
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Intermediate to Business level
- English: Intermediate to Business level
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience creating Domo dashboards and ETL workflows
- Experience using document-oriented NoSQL databases such as Couchbase
- Basic knowledge of API integrations
- Ability to communicate professionally in English or Chinese
