Senior Data Engineer - AI & Cloud Data Platform Lead

Join a global strategy consulting firm as a Senior Data Engineer responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced AI-ready and cloud-based data platforms. You will build enterprise-grade data infrastructure, modern ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes that enable large organizations to accelerate digital transformation and data-driven decision making. This role offers the opportunity to participate in major transformation programs, collaborate with global teams, and work at the forefront of AI and cloud engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable data platforms using AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Informatica, dbt, or Apache Airflow
- Build and tune enterprise data warehouses and data lakes
- Implement data governance policies and data quality management frameworks
- Collaborate with BI and data science teams to build robust analytics infrastructure
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and optimal data architectures
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct technical reviews to ensure best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL, Python, or Scala for data engineering
- Proven experience building data platforms in AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience designing and implementing DWH, data lake, and ETL/ELT solutions
- Experience working in collaborative engineering or cross-functional teams
Soft Skills:
- Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong logical thinking and the ability to convert business requirements into technical solutions
- High level of ownership and the ability to drive progress independently
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native or business-level fluency
- English: Intermediate to business proficiency preferred
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with modern AI infrastructure (LLM, vector databases, RAG pipelines, etc.)
- Familiarity with MLOps, CI/CD, or cloud security
- Consulting or professional services background with client-facing project experience
