Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal counsel across marketing, sales, digital, and consumer operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts in both English and Japanese.
- Advise on regulatory, compliance, and governance matters relevant to Japan's business.
- Engage with government agencies to support sustainability and harm-reduction initiatives.
- Monitor legislative developments and ensure business strategies align with evolving laws.
- Collaborate with regional and HQ legal teams on cross-border policies and transformation projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Licensed Bengoshi (Japan-qualified lawyer).
- 8-10+ years of experience in both in-house and law firm environments.
- Strong knowledge of Japan's regulatory and consumer-facing industries.
- Proven expertise in compliance, contracts, and risk management within global settings.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication in Japanese and English with executive-level presence.
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
- Collaborative and proactive approach, with adaptability in dynamic environments.
Language Requirements
- Japanese: Native-level proficiency (required).
- English: Fluent business proficiency (required).
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Background in technology, healthcare, or regulated consumer industries.
- Experience engaging with government or policy-making bodies.
- Exposure to large-scale business transformation projects.
