My Advice

The old fashion pros and cons list still has its place. Oddly not applied enough by some of the smartest folk in town. Look at the merit of your current role and what the benefits and disadvantages are and then apply this lense to new opportunities. Do not underestimate the work life balance and the knock on benefits that getting this right can have to home and family happiness. Culture and fit can never be overlooked and the 'heart' of the organisation or team will ultimately affect not only effectiveness but happiness.

My Background

My career in recruitment began after a long career in advertising in both Australia and London. I loved the teams, the creative, the partnering and the outcomes and that foundation is not unlike the world of recruitment. Our goal is to improve lives and for that to happen those principles have to be applied. I started working in Diversity and Inclusion in London working into Law Firms and Banks to conquer the unconscious bias in race, gender and religion in line with the new mandates as set out by the Law Society and those encouraged by the then Cameron government. On my return to Sydney I joined Bright Employment working with refugees and asylum seekers and those to whom finding employment was challenged and worked to get them into sustainable employment and out of the welfare cycle. At Morgan McKinley I work closely with candidates and clients to ensure that everyone within the process has the very best chance of improving their life.
