Cost Accountant - Manufacturing - Toronto, ON

Core Responsibilities:
As a Cost Accountant, you will manage the costing responsibilities for one of the company's plants, including:
- Cost Oversight: Manage cost roll activities on a daily, monthly, and annual basis, and evaluate changes to guide pricing strategies.
- Cost Integrity: Ensure accuracy in standard cost components, including labor, overhead, materials, and surcharges, while conducting labor rate evaluations.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory accuracy, assess obsolescence, reconcile sub-ledgers, and oversee cycle and annual inventory counts.
- Budgeting and Variance Review: Develop flexible budgets based on volume, calculate fixed overhead, and analyze operational variances such as PPV and inventory adjustments.
- Operations Partnership: Support the Operations Director/Manager by reviewing labor tickets, participating in daily meetings, and conducting pre-month-end reviews.
- Data Reporting: Compile operations dashboards for monthly business reviews and ensure accurate P&L reporting up to gross margin.
- Policy Creation: Develop and implement effective inventory and costing procedures for the factory.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting
- CPA designation (preferred but not required)
- 3+ years of experience in cost accounting
- Experience in manufacturing, food production, or pharmaceuticals is essential
