Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor (Data Centers)

Position Overview: My client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor with substantial experience in the construction industry, ideally with a strong background in data centers. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of quantity surveying for complex data center projects. The position offers the opportunity to work on high-value, technically challenging projects and contribute to the ongoing growth of the company's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all quantity surveying duties for data center projects, including cost estimation, budgeting, and value engineering.
Prepare detailed and accurate cost plans, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
Manage subcontractor procurement, including preparing and issuing tender packages, negotiating, and managing contracts.
Provide cost advice and assist in the development of project budgets and financial reports.
Monitor project costs against budgets and identify any discrepancies, advising the project team on cost control strategies.
Conduct regular site visits to assess work progress and ensure that projects are running on time and within budget.
Work closely with the project manager, design team, and contractors to ensure effective cost management.
Advise on contractual issues and assist with dispute resolution when necessary.
Prepare monthly valuation reports and track financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on large-scale construction projects (data centers experience is a significant advantage).
A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management, and procurement processes.
Proficient in the use of quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ideally, MRICS or working towards Chartered status (not essential).
