I'm looking to speak with a skilled and experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Leader to join a team in Sligo. Reporting directly to the Site Director, this role involves overseeing the EHS group onsite and ensuring the effective management of safety and environmental activities. You will play a key role in aligning operations with regulatory and corporate requirements while driving the implementation of impactful EHS initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the team reporting to the EHS Leader, fostering a culture of safety and environmental excellence.
- Design and execute a comprehensive EHS program that meets both legislative mandates and corporate standards, ensuring alignment with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Offer expert guidance and strategic advice to management on EHS policies, ensuring compliance with licenses, regulations, BAT (Best Available Techniques), and industry best practices.
- Anticipate future EHS needs and stay updated on recognized EHS management standards.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with all necessary permits and licenses.
- Develop programs to manage waste streams effectively, adhering to legislative requirements and industry-leading practices.
- Achieve and surpass local and corporate KPIs and objectives.
- Continuously enhance integrated Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Energy Management Systems.
- Oversee the adoption of corporate standards within a cohesive EHS management framework, encompassing emergency planning, legal compliance, risk assessments (process and occupational), environmental evaluations, goal-setting, monitoring, reporting, audits, and operational procedures.
- Administer EHS-related budgets, services, and supplier relationships to ensure efficient operations.
- Lead major EHS programs and critical site projects, ensuring adequate resources are allocated to address key environmental and safety aspects, particularly during new product introductions.
- Apply advanced EHS knowledge to the design and optimization of processes and workspaces, with a focus on new product introductions and technical transfers.
- Develop and oversee emergency response, loss prevention, occupational health services, EHS training, occupational hygiene, and process safety programs, ensuring continuous improvement of incident responses.
- Contribute to local and national Business Continuity and Crisis Action Teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- A BSc in Occupational Safety & Health (Level 8) or a related field is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, with strong knowledge of cGMP and regulatory requirements specific to the healthcare sector.
- Proven ability to manage projects effectively, with 5+ years of experience in delivering on-time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- At least 2 years of experience managing teams, demonstrating leadership and coaching abilities.
- An MSc in Environmental Health and Safety Management (Level 9) is highly advantageous.
