Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the Japan R&D Data Science & AI strategy, ensuring alignment with global priorities
- Identify and evaluate data science opportunities and risks in the drug development pipeline
- Develop and apply advanced ML/AI algorithms to extract insights from clinical and biological data
- Collaborate with scientists across disciplines to build AI tools that enhance decision-making
- Build and maintain partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Present findings through internal communication, publications, and conference presentations
- Stay current on emerging trends in data science, AI, and analytics
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- PhD with a focus in Machine Learning/Deep Learning
- Bachelor's degree in quantitative or biological sciences
- Proven leadership in clinical development or related areas, with a strong publication record
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in R and/or Python, experience in Unix/Linux environments (HPC included)
- Strong data wrangling and modeling capabilities
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to navigate complex environments and resolve conflicts effectively
Language Requirements
- Japanese: Native
- English: Business level
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience developing AI solutions for healthcare or life sciences
- Track record of influencing cross-functional teams in global organizations
- Deep knowledge of clinical trial data, bioinformatics, or biomarker discovery
