Lead Tokyo's Compliance function, manage licensing, establish operations, adapt global frameworks, build policies, and ensure regulatory alignment.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Advise on applicable laws for credit rating agencies, monitor regulatory updates, and ensure daily adherence.
- Develop and enhance compliance controls, collaborating cross-functionally to manage and mitigate risk.
- Draft, refine, and maintain local compliance policies and procedures.
- Customize global oversight programs, conduct audits, and recommend improvements.
- Facilitate reporting and examinations, fostering transparent and constructive relationships with regulators.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage compliance staff, establishing a proactive, high-performing culture.
Required skills
- 10+ years of compliance experience within financial services, ideally in areas related to credit products or analysis.
- Skilled at policy drafting, regulatory reporting, and risk assessment with a self-starting mindset.
- Native Japanese will be required for local reporting and regulatory matters, as well as Fluent English in order to interact with internal stakeholders globally.
Preferred skills
- Preferably an understanding of credit rating regulations in Japan, with an ability to distinguish and correctly apply relevant rules.
- Demonstrated diligence in research and review, ensuring accuracy and compliance in high-stakes environments.
