Join a fast-growing, tech-enabled M&A advisory firm as a Legal Officer and contribute to shaping the company's legal operations from an early stage. This role is ideal for a Japanese-qualified attorney seeking exposure to English contracts, M&A law, and legal tech while working in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment. You'll play a critical part in building legal infrastructure and supporting cross-border transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review contracts (primarily in Japanese) with oversight from senior legal staff
- Provide internal legal counsel and support cross-departmental consultations
- Help establish internal legal infrastructure, policies, and training programs
- Support corporate governance, including shareholder meeting preparations
- Contribute to M&A transactions and business succession matters, including cross-border legal work
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Japanese-qualified attorney (Bengoshi) with at least 1 year of experience in a law firm or in-house
- Interest or experience in reviewing English-language contracts
- Exposure to M&A or cross-border legal matters is highly valued
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work proactively
- Detail-oriented, team player with a genuine interest in legal innovation
Language Requirements
Japanese: Native level
English: Intermediate to Business level
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with legal tech or digital tools for in-house legal operations
- Experience in corporate law, business succession, or investment advisory
