Roles/Responsibilities
- Create and implement LANs, WANs, and wireless networks containing routers, switches, UPSs, and other gear.
- Configure networks in accordance with architectural guidelines to guarantee dependable and seamless operation, taking into account scalability.
- Collaborate with project teams to make sure that thorough planning is carried out during the discovery phase to guarantee that network designs satisfy business requirements and reduce risk throughout the operational lifetime.
- Work together with department heads and upper management to evaluate short- and long-term network capacity requirements and pinpoint areas within the company's Global Network that require risk mitigation.
- Ensure that all projects and modifications are turned over to the Network Operations team, including network diagrams and related documentation, configuration backups, maintenance SLAs, etc.
- Create and implement office-wide training plans, policies, and procedures related to network administration and disaster recovery.
- Engage in negotiations and interactions with contractors, outsourcers, and suppliers to guarantee that network products and services are provided successfully and in accordance with expectations.
- Enforce and uphold access rules and network security procedures to safeguard confidential information and stop illegal access.
- Establish and uphold security and control measures in accordance with Japan's laws, including those imposed by the FDA, SOX, and ISO regulatory bodies, among others. Resolve any audit results, and reply to all requests for IT audits.
Required skills
- 7+ years of experience and a track record of designing and implementing standards-based architecture-based Palo Alto, WAN, and Cisco LAN and WLAN firewalls.
- Practical technical understanding of modern Internet standards, network hardware, and protocols, such as the OSI model and TCP/IP
- Knowledge in network automation and Python, or another scripting language.
- Knowledge of cloud networking is preferred.
- Practical understanding of relevant legislation and data privacy procedures
- Fluent level of Japanese, business level of English or higher

Preferred skills
- Certification from Cisco (CCNP, CCNA), or Palo Alto (PCNSE), or similar
- ITIL v3 foundation certification or above preferred
- Preferable is knowledge of F5 load balancing, Nexus switching, and data centre environments
- Desirable: prior network infrastructure delivery experience in regulated manufacturing environments and manufacturing systems
- Prior SD-WAN deployment experience is preferred.
- Prior experience installing Palo Alto firewalls is preferred.
- Knowledge of Infoblox technology is preferred.
