A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Health & Safety Officer to join a leading manufacturer based in Waterford.
Role Overview:
As the Senior Health & Safety Officer, you will take charge of all Health and Safety activities at the site, driving the development and continuous improvement of a positive safety culture. You will ensure compliance with industry standards, internal policies, and procedures, and actively contribute to the company's ongoing safety efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with departments across the site to foster positive safety relationships and build a strong safety culture.
- Act as the primary representative during audits and inspections, liaising with regulatory authorities as necessary.
- Manage and maintain the organisation's Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001) to ensure efficient operations and compliance.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Health & Safety audits and inspections in alignment with the established audit plan.
- Track and measure Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) objectives to ensure continuous improvement.
- Champion Health & Safety initiatives through impactful training programs and awareness campaigns.
- Lead the management of the risk assessment program, ensuring all potential hazards are addressed.
- Ensure timely reporting of incidents and compliance with Health and Safety Authority regulations.
- Manage an annual safety communication plan, incorporating internal safety meetings, toolbox talks, and external safety messaging for contractors and suppliers.
- Work closely with teams to ensure all visitors and contractors comply with safety induction protocols.
- Collaborate across all teams to embed Health & Safety best practices into day-to-day operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BSc in Occupational Safety & Health or a recognized Health & Safety qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety.
- In-depth knowledge of current environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Experience interacting with regulatory bodies.
- Internal auditing experience is an advantage.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards.
