An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Utilities/Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering department in Cork on a contract basis. This role involves supporting capital projects, operations, and engineering functions within designated production areas.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to project completion, manage your time to meet agreed targets, and develop plans for short-term work activities.
- Collaborate with the engineering team leader to ensure safety and quality across operations and site-wide engineering.
- Develop technical and operational standards and provide routine technical support for equipment troubleshooting and manufacturing issue resolution.
- Maintain productive relationships with process equipment and technology suppliers and vendors.
- Work with the engineering team to establish robust processes and systems that ensure equipment uptime and maximise manufacturing output.
- Engage with teams to prioritise work and establish clear processes.
- Lead and own weekly team meetings and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support efforts to optimise plant reliability and minimise lifecycle costs.
- Provide technical expertise to operations and engineering teams within your area of responsibility.
- Lead investigations using RFT Method 1.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Support operational campaign startups.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment.
- Proven ability to lead and work within cross-functional teams, with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in problem-solving with a strong customer focus and experience managing budgets and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to challenge existing practices and optimise solutions to meet business needs.
Nice-to-Have
- Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical sector.
- Knowledge of site operations.
- On-site support experience related to this role.
