Role Overview
As a Procurement Specialist, you will be an integral part of the Finance team and a strategic partner to various operational departments. Your role will include managing the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, ensuring that all materials and services are sourced efficiently, meet quality standards, and are delivered on time and within budget. You will lead the tendering process, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract management. The position also involves cross-functional collaboration and the application of procurement best practices and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic partner to operational teams, assessing and challenging procurement needs, requirements, and expectations.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, offering expert advice on procurement strategy, policy, and legislation.
- Analyse the company's operational needs for materials, equipment, and services, ensuring procurement solutions align with business goals.
- Manage the supplier evaluation process, including drafting scopes of work, negotiating contracts, and ensuring high-quality and cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Lead competitive tendering processes, negotiating favourable terms, and managing the procurement of materials, services, and capital projects.
- Monitor and analyse spending patterns on materials, equipment, and services, identifying opportunities for cost savings, improved service levels, and enhanced supplier performance.
- Oversee the approved supplier list and maintain an up-to-date contracts register.
- Contribute to quarterly forecasts and annual budgets, including pricing for materials and services.
- Participate in regular Group Procurement meetings, with some travel required.
- Report on procurement activities, including supplier sustainability and compliance.
- Assist with purchase requisitions and orders, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Academic degree or third-level qualification in a relevant field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar procurement or sourcing role.
- Strong experience in strategic sourcing and negotiations, particularly in purchasing services and managing large service agreements.
- Proficiency in procurement tools such as Maximo and E-sourcing.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
