The Client

Clúid Housing is an award-winning, non-profit charity providing over 10,000 affordable, high-quality homes to people in housing need and has grown to become the largest approved housing body (AHB) in Ireland. There are currently nearly 60,000 households on local authority waiting lists for social housing.

The Challenge

Clúid Housing was adopting a new strategic plan with an ambitious growth period. A new Director of Finance & Treasury was core to the success of the growth ambitions, and the organisation was seeking someone with debt financing ability, strong stakeholder management experience with banks, and a deep understanding and experience of working in the sector.

The Solution

Given Clúid Housing is Ireland’s largest AHB, the search had to extend beyond the AHB sector, given that no other Finance Director in smaller organisations would’ve had the experience and size of portfolio required for success in the role. This was an international search process, mainly focused on talent from the UK market. We successfully found an incredibly strong candidate with private commercial experience as well as a background working with large housing associations in the UK market, which brought experienced market expertise to Cluid.
