Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced EHS Manager to take on a standalone role, pivotal in ensuring our operations meet the highest safety, environmental, and compliance standards. With new projects and expansions coming online, this role will play a critical part in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust EHS systems, particularly in managing chemical safety and ensuring compliance with ISO certifications.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Compliance
- Act as the primary EHS authority onsite, ensuring adherence to all relevant local, national, and international regulations, particularly regarding chemical safety.
- Maintain and continually improve compliance with ISO standards, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, while preparing for and managing external audits.
- Serve as a key advisor to the leadership team on EHS matters, influencing decision-making to prioritize safety and sustainability.
Chemical Safety Management
- Oversee the safe storage, handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous chemicals, ensuring compliance with REACH, CLP, and other chemical safety regulations.
- Develop and maintain Chemical Safety Management Programs, including Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management and hazardous substance inventories.
- Implement robust control measures for chemical processes, including COSHH assessments and emergency response planning.
New Projects and Initiatives
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate EHS considerations into the design and execution of new projects and processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure that all new equipment, processes, and systems meet EHS requirements.
- Manage EHS-related aspects of new product introductions and technical transfers.
Risk Management and Incident Response
- Perform risk assessments and hazard evaluations across operations, focusing on chemical and process safety.
- Lead incident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure the site's Emergency Response Plan is comprehensive, up-to-date, and regularly tested.
Training and Engagement
- Deliver EHS training to employees at all levels, with a focus on chemical safety and emergency procedures.
- Foster a culture of safety and environmental awareness through engagement and communication initiatives.
Reporting and Monitoring
- Develop, track, and report on EHS performance metrics, ensuring alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records for inspections, audits, permits, and regulatory reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement in EHS performance through data analysis and innovative solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment, preferably with chemical processes.
- Proven expertise in managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, including leading audits and maintaining compliance.
- Strong knowledge of chemical safety regulations (e.g., REACH, CLP, COSHH).
- Skills:
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, particularly in process and chemical safety.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of influencing across all levels of the organization.
- Project management experience, with the ability to manage EHS aspects of multiple projects simultaneously.
- Certifications: NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH Chartered Membership, or equivalent preferred. Additional training in chemical safety or process safety is highly advantageous.
