This role is responsible for overseeing both the food safety & quality governance of on-site operations in Cork, as well as being the main quality connection for external parties. The Quality Manager is focused on ensuring highest standards of food safety and quality are delivered, and in shaping and driving a strong plan for longer term improvement.
This is an exciting role as you will be working in an organisation that is producing over 100 skus to 80+ countries. This individual will play an active role in retaining the FSSC 22000, Halal, Kosher and Rainforest Alliance certifications for the site.
An overview of the role:
- Responsible for end-to-end quality - from raw materials intake through to product delivery
- Shape the vision for driving world class food safety & quality standards.
- Drive delivery of identified improvement initiatives and longer-term strategies through active engagement with the factory team, wider supply chain, customers and suppliers
- Own the process of resolution of food safety or quality issues, leading root cause analysis, implementation of actions, ensure ongoing compliance and communication with key stakeholders
- Enable the Quality team to work most effectively by finding opportunities for improvement in processes with customers and external suppliers and ensuring their delivery.
- Lead the strategic agenda to transform traceability and quality control systems.
- Oversee operations of third-party quality control laboratory, including review and approval of chemistry and sensory test results. Manage QC clearance and address blocked stock issues.
- Conduct internal audits, including evaluations of third-party warehouses, prepare and support external audits, such as FSSC22000, HSE, SMETA, Rainforest Alliance, Halal and Kosher certifications.
- Lead the change management process for new products.
- Oversee and coordinate the training of the production operators. This will include keeping records of all training activities, including progress and outcomes
- Participate in the Safety & Environment team
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Food Science or a related field.
- Experience in food safety and quality management within the food industry (3+ years experience required managing key elements of a QMS).
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and audit processes (e.g., FSSC22000, HSE).
- Experience preparing for and hosting audits
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with expertise in root cause analysis.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in using quality control systems and tools for traceability and compliance.
