The Mechanical Engineer in the R&D department will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing new cooling solutions for data centres. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, innovative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing our cooling technologies to meet the growing demands of data centre operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support new product development.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
- Provide technical support and guidance during the production and implementation phases of new products.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the R&D department.
- Work closely with the R&D lab team to perform performance testing and validation on prototypes, documenting results and iterating designs based on findings.
- Assist with prototype builds to better understand design and drive improvement.
Key Skills
- Knowledge of HVAC components and systems
- Strong engineering experience in the field of mechanical system design in an OEM environment.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer principles.
- Strong abilities in documentation, project management, and organizational skills.
- Experience with prototype development, testing methodologies, and data analysis.
- Experience with sheet metal design & piping systems design
- Experience with process cooling water systems design
- Experience with refrigeration system design is a significant advantage
- Experience with SolidWorks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and development industry experience.
