Job Title: Senior IT Security Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Security Engineer to join a dynamic team responsible for managing and maintaining critical security infrastructure. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with firewall and network security technologies, ensuring the security and resilience of both on-premises and cloud-based environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain firewalls, web proxies, and load balancers to ensure secure and efficient network operations.
- Provide expert-level support and administration for leading firewall technologies, including Palo Alto, Checkpoint, and F5 LTM/GTM.
- Oversee incident and change request queues, and monitor the security mailbox for any issues requiring immediate action.
- Ensure the timely upgrading and maintenance of IT security hardware and software across all environments.
- Handle security-related incidents, manage SIEM tickets, and provide detailed responses and resolutions.
- Implement, configure, and administer IT security infrastructure across multiple sites and data centres.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of security documentation and protocols.
- Manage intrusion prevention systems (IPS) and review their performance regularly.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance within the IT Infrastructure team to support business objectives.
- Collaborate with external service providers and vendors to resolve issues and optimise performance.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in network security and firewall management.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and be available for occasional out-of-hours and weekend work.
Skills and Experience Required
- 7+ years of experience working in IT, with at least 3 years focused on IT security engineering.
- Proven expertise in managing and supporting Palo Alto and Checkpoint firewalls and F5 LTM/GTM, including upgrades and administration.
- Strong understanding of network traffic and protocols (TCP/IP).
- Experience working with Azure and other cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with security architecture and best practices.
- Relevant IT and security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNP Security, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage complex security issues.
- Experience working in a support team and managing competing priorities effectively.
