Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will work as part of the wider finance team, whilst building on their experience across month end close, financial statements, budgeting and forecasting. You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll and expense processing and reporting, the completion of bank reconciliations and reconciling of intercompany accounts.
Core Responsibilities:
- Month-End Closing: Coordinate month-end closing activities as needed. Provide all required reporting and analysis to support the month-end close. Assist in the preparation of accruals and provisions.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Reconcile key balance sheet accounts such as stock, intercompany balances, grants, payroll, VAT, and others to ensure their accuracy and integrity.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile various group bank accounts and finance provider accounts throughout the month and at month-end, adhering to established timelines.
- Reporting and Support: Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports and offer general support to the finance team. Assist with ad hoc financial tasks and projects as required.
- Audit Preparation: Prepare documentation for auditors, including schedules, evidence, and supporting materials for external audits or reviews by other external bodies.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to financial processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Challenge existing practices to drive cost savings and operational improvements. Support the implementation of broader finance and business initiatives.
- Payroll Administration: Serve as a point of contact with the payroll bureau to ensure accurate and timely payment of employee salaries. Oversee monthly payroll postings to accounts and prepare ad hoc payroll analyses as needed. Ensure compliance with relevant tax deadlines.
- Expense Management: Oversee monthly expense postings to accounts and provide ad hoc expense analyses as required.
Person Specification & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 - 4 years' experience of working in an accounting role.
- IATI or part qualified accountant ACCA, ACA, CIMA advantageous
- Experience of completing bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and payroll processing are a must.
- Strong knowledge of debits and credits and general accounting principles.
- Inquisitive nature with great attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to build rapport with various colleagues and stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage several priorities simultaneously, whilst still meeting deadlines.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and a proactive approach to individual tasks.
- Team player who can show flexibility and is prepared to assist others within Finance team where necessary.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work and change.
