Overview
Our client is undertaking a major digital transformation programme to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency through modern web and mobile platforms. We are seeking an experienced Contentful Developer / Front-End Web Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable digital solutions that support the organisation's long-term digital strategy and deliver seamless digital experiences for customers and internal teams.
This role will be central to shaping the front-end architecture and Contentful CMS ecosystem, ensuring content models are scalable, structured, and aligned with business and technical needs. The successful candidate will bridge digital design and technical delivery, working closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to enable agile delivery, continuous improvement, and measurable value from digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
● Develop and maintain high-performance front-end web applications integrated with the Contentful CMS.
● Design, implement, and maintain scalable content models within Contentful to support structured, reusable, and dynamic content delivery.
● Collaborate with business stakeholders and the Senior BA/PO to translate functional requirements into detailed technical specifications and scalable content schemas.
● Act as a technical subject matter expert for Contentful, ensuring the platform supports agile delivery, content governance, and continuous improvement.
● Support the maintenance and evolution of web and mobile applications consuming Contentful data, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
● Contribute to front-end architecture decisions using modern frameworks such as React and Next.js.
● Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release management, providing technical insight into estimation, risks, and feasibility.
● Work closely with Scrum Masters, QA teams, and Architects to ensure high code quality, performance, and security standards.
● Provide transparency to the Programme Manager on technical progress, risks, and dependencies related to the digital application stack.
● Continuously improve development practices, CMS integrations, and front-end performance to support evolving business needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
● Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Front-End Web Developer delivering large-scale web applications in complex technical environments.
● Deep expertise in Contentful CMS, including content model architecture, Contentful CLI, and Delivery/Management APIs.
● Strong proficiency in modern front-end frameworks such as React and Next.js, with experience building scalable and maintainable applications.
● Proven experience designing and maintaining content models that support dynamic, reusable front-end components.
● Strong understanding of web performance, scalability, accessibility, and modern front-end best practices.
● Experience working in agile delivery environments using tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
● Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and business stakeholders.
