Utilities Engineer - Contract Role - Midlands
We're supporting a pharmaceutical manufacturing site in the Midlands area in the search for a skilled Utilities Engineer. This is a full-time, onsite position focused on the operation, compliance, and development of key utility systems in a GMP-regulated setting.
Key Focus Areas:
- Black Utilities: including water treatment, boilers, refrigeration, HVAC, heat pumps, cooling towers, fire systems, wastewater, and LPHW systems.
- System compliance and performance - support both maintenance and new installations.
- Reporting line into site-level engineering leadership.
Core Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery and integration of new utility systems in coordination with project stakeholders.
- Develop and optimise maintenance strategies (e.g. FMECA, spare parts, SAP routines).
- Ensure regulatory compliance across safety, environmental, and quality systems (e.g. Legionella, insurance audits, EPA).
- Lead upskilling initiatives for site maintenance personnel.
- Manage vendor relationships and service contracts related to utilities.
- Contribute to site-wide energy and sustainability programmes.
- Represent the site in wider utilities working groups.
Experience Required:
- Engineering degree (Level 8 or equivalent).
- Minimum 7 years' experience working with utilities in a GMP manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of water systems, boilers, refrigeration, and related infrastructure.
- Proficiency with BMS, CMMS, and reliability-focused maintenance strategies.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
