Our client, a leading chemical producer based in Cork, specialises in manufacturing specialty chemicals for the mining industry, particularly for the solvent extraction of minerals.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Junior E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) and Automation Engineer to join our client's dynamic team.
This role will involve assisting in the implementation of various projects with a focus on E&I and automation, while gaining valuable insights into plant operations and control systems.
The successful candidate will troubleshoot automation systems (DCS) such as DeltaV, as well as address E&I issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the site E&I and Automation Engineer on project implementation.
- Assist in daily process automation tasks.
- Troubleshoot DCS and other control systems, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Work alongside external engineering companies and site personnel.
- Liaise with technical experts from other locations to uphold technical standards and safety requirements.
- Share knowledge and best practices with team members.
What We Expect:
- A trade qualification in E&I or Electrical is beneficial, or a 3rd level qualification in electrical/instrumentation/automation.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS), particularly DeltaV.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems and reviewing/compiling electrical CAD drawings, scopes, I/O lists, and PIDs.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred; ATEX experience is advantageous.
- Strong decision-making abilities and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet goals and targets.
