Mechanical Maintenance Fitter - Heavy Industry
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join a dynamic maintenance team in a state-of-the-art power generation facility. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment in a fast-paced environment.
Role Overview
Based at a leading generation station, the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities to ensure plant reliability and efficiency. This role requires a proactive, safety-focused professional capable of working with a variety of mechanical systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance activities on heavy mechanical systems.
- Perform mechanical fitting tasks in a challenging industrial environment.
- Lead hands-on maintenance projects and mentor apprentices.
- Maintain accurate records within the CMMS and prepare task-specific documentation.
- Review and implement method statements, risk assessments, and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with and supervise vendors and contractors.
- Participate in flexible working arrangements, including occasional weekend, night shifts, and callouts.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in power station maintenance or similar heavy industrial settings.
- Expertise in mechanical maintenance practices, including machining, welding, and fitting.
- Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs and adhere to maintenance procedures.
- Proficiency with computer systems and CMMS.
- Demonstrated safety awareness and teamwork in industrial environments.
- Full driving license.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with generation plants (thermal, hydro, or renewable energy).
- Certification in lifting/slinging equipment and manual handling.
- Knowledge of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and permitting systems.
- Familiarity with maintenance, environmental, and safety management systems.
- Experience in supervising contractors or staff.
Qualifications
- Essential: Mechanical craft qualification or equivalent.
