This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team, providing support and assurance on data protection and compliance matters across a diverse range of businesses with a large financial organisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting compliance and data protection activities in a 12 month fixed-term contract position.
Principal Accountabilities
Reporting to the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Senior Compliance Manager (SCM), the successful candidate will be an experienced individual with a minimum of five years' experience in data protection and general compliance. They will contribute to the provision of compliance services and advisory support within a varied and fast-paced environment.
Working closely with the DPO/SCM, primary responsibilities include:
Data Protection (DP)
- Support the provision of data protection oversight and advisory services, including handling data breaches, data subject rights requests, data protection impact assessments, records of processing activities, and legitimate interests assessments.
- Contribute to the provision of data protection information within recurring governance reports and general compliance metrics.
- Track and deliver elements of the annual compliance and data protection plan, including the performance of monitoring and reviews and updating the compliance task management tool.
- Take on a secretariat role for specific DP and business unit oversight meetings.
- Assist in updating online training materials, including reviewing data protection-related content.
- Provide general support to the DPO on ad-hoc data protection matters.
General Compliance
- Assist in drafting compliance-related procedures and policies.
- Support annual attestation and return submission exercises administered by the compliance team.
- Review and share updates from the Better Regulation data feed with the team.
- Support the delivery of compliance services to other business units, as required.
- Assist in the provision of compliance training and communications.
- Monitor compliance group mailboxes and assign queries to the relevant team members.
- Support colleagues in responding to ad-hoc queries and requests for advice.
Knowledge & Experience
- Strong understanding of financial markets, products, services, and practices within the financial services sector.
- In-depth knowledge of Irish and EU data protection legislation, with practical experience working in this area.
- Awareness of data protection and compliance risks faced by the organisation and its affiliated businesses.
- Experience in an assurance, monitoring, or audit role is a plus.
- Proficient IT skills, including familiarity with MS Office, MS Teams, and project management tools.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of five years' experience in data protection and general compliance.
- Strong understanding of compliance risks, with the ability to challenge first-line controls.
- Experience managing stakeholder relationships and working with diverse groups.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage internal and external relationships effectively.
- A relevant third-level qualification or equivalent professional qualification.
