Job Overview:
As a Finance Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the finance team with financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis. This role is ideal for someone who is newly qualified and eager to apply their knowledge in a fast-paced retail environment. You will work closely with senior finance professionals and key stakeholders across various departments to provide valuable financial insights that drive business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Analyse financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and historical data, identifying trends and variances.
Support the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and consolidate data.
Prepare and present financial models and reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Monitor retail performance metrics such as sales, margin, stock levels, and store profitability to assess the company's financial health.
Assist in the development of financial plans and long-term strategies for growth and profitability.
Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support for key projects as required.
Support audits and ensure internal controls are in place to safeguard financial data.
Develop and maintain financial systems and reporting tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
Requirements:
A recent graduate or newly qualified professional with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Newly qualified with a professional finance qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level) and experience with financial software.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
A proactive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
An interest in the retail sector and a desire to develop a career in finance within this industry.
Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of retail financial metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Experience working with retail data and reporting systems (e.g., ERP, Power BI, SAP).
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
