Morgan McKinley are partnering exclusively with an Australian Transport & Logistics Firm that is seeking a highly skilled Senior Risk Manager to oversee and implement risk management strategies. This role is critical in identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential threats to business operations, financial stability, and strategic initiatives.
The successful candidate will report directly into the General Manager of Risk and work closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders to develop and execute effective risk mitigation plans. As a Senior Risk Manager, you will take ownership of the development and execution of risk frameworks, ensuring strong governance and effective risk mitigation.
You will provide expert guidance on risk strategy, proactively identifying potential threats and parterning extensively with stakeholders to develop and implement practical solutions. Whilst this is an SME role, you will support members of the wider team and you will instil a culture of risk awareness and accountability, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve risk frameworks, policies, and methodologies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the business.
- Work closely with senior leadership and business units to strengthen risk controls, enhance processes, and embed best practices across strategic and operational functions.
- Provide expert risk advisory, partnering with senior stakeholders to support decision-making, improve resilience, and align risk management with business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing risk structures, processes, and mechanisms, implementing best practices, and embedding a culture of proactive risk management.
- Contribute to strategic risk assessments, actively supporting and advising on key projects and initiatives, ensuring risks are effectively managed as the organisation focuses on ambitious growth and innovation.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with strong technical expertise in risk management principles.
- 8+ years of experience in risk management from a non-financial services background, with proven success in embedding risk frameworks within strategic initiatives and projects.
- Deep understanding of risk governance, compliance requirements, and industry best practices, with the ability to provide practical and commercially focused solutions.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at senior levels.
- Relevant professional certifications are advantageous, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in risk management.
