Forester
his is an exciting opportunity for a forestry professional to contribute to a leading timber processing business. The role is based Cork, with travel to lots and private forestry growers.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be a key part of our forestry team, ensuring the efficient delivery of logs from the forest to our Irish mills. Reporting to the Head of Forestry in Ireland, you will manage procurement, harvesting, and haulage operations to meet the mill's requirements while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Valuation and procurement of logs (standing, roadside, and delivered) from state and private suppliers.

Management of harvesting and haulage operations in compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Serve as Forest Works Manager, ensuring adherence to industry standards and codes of practice.

Plan and coordinate log intake with mill staff.

Ensure timely delivery of logs, meeting mill specifications and quality standards.

Operate and maintain the Forest Management Systems.

Engage with state and private forestry sectors and participate in marketing events and committees.

Stay updated on industry developments and forestry regulations.
Candidate Profile:

Experience in log procurement and assessment of standing and roadside timber.

Proven ability to manage harvesting and haulage contractors while maintaining industry standards.

A third-level forestry qualification.

Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Full, clean driving license with a willingness to travel.
