Manufacturing Engineering Technician
Location: Fermoy, Cork
Role Type: 12-hour day/night shifts

About the Role:
A leading manufacturer of high-quality PCBAs, subassemblies, and Class III medical devices is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join their dynamic team at a state-of-the-art facility in Fermoy.
The facility is FDA registered and certified to ISO13485:2016 and specializes in manufacturing automation, providing services throughout the product lifecycle, from New Product Introduction (NPI) to complex volume manufacturing and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain automation equipment for Class III medical devices, ensuring consistent quality, output, and yield.
- Conduct systematic root cause problem-solving and troubleshooting to resolve equipment issues.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, ensuring all paperwork and records are completed accurately.
- Lead and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency while adhering to change management and cGMP requirements.
- Assist in the commissioning of new equipment and projects.
- Order and manage the stock of spare parts.
- Provide cross-training for technicians as needed.
- Exhibit flexibility to travel for new equipment buy-offs and training.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum Level 6 qualification (or nearing completion) in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical/Automation Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or equivalent trade qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an SMT Technician.
- Experience in high-volume automation and robotics.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Availability to work shift patterns.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with Pneumatics, Electronics, Hydraulics, Programmable Controllers, Servo Motor drives, Vision systems, Ultrasonic welding, and workshop machining.
- Understanding of Process Capability, MSA (Measurement System Analysis), and GR&R (Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility).
- Experience with FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and IOPQ (Installation, Operation, Performance Qualification) for automated assembly lines.
- Proven experience in leading process improvement projects within a medical device environment.
