Job Title: Operational Supervisor
An organization in Cork is seeking an Operational Supervisor for their water treatment facilities. This role involves overseeing a team of operators, technicians, and process experts at various water treatment plants in the local area. A strong understanding of the water treatment processes and familiarity with contractual and compliance requirements are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising a team of operators and laboratory technicians in the day-to-day operations of the water treatment facilities.
- Running and overseeing contracts on behalf of clients, ensuring all treatment plans are running efficiently and to the time schedule.
- Regular communication with both the client and operational team.
- The successful candidate must be self-driven, capable of managing their time effectively to ensure tasks are completed efficiently, including managing start and finish times to meet the demands of the role.
- Overseeing routine operational, maintenance, and process activities at the treatment plants and associated facilities, as directed by senior management.
- Ensuring all contractual obligations are met, with a focus on producing positive outcomes for both the organization and the client.
- Managing process monitoring activities to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness in the various operational and maintenance contracts.
- The position includes regular on-call duties, weekend plant checks, and emergency support. The supervisor will guide the on-call team to ensure compliance and the implementation of cost-effective solutions during non-standard hours.
- The role involves both indoor and outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions, as well as providing support to the operational team to complete their duties.
- Coordinating staff coverage for holidays, sickness, and training.
Essential Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent time management skills and flexibility are key.
- Strong English reading and communication skills, with excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in computer use, particularly spreadsheets and basic software programs.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Collaborative team player with the capacity to work independently when required.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the water treatment industry.
- Experience in managing operational teams is highly preferred.
Qualifications:
- A degree-level education is required; a background in engineering or science is preferred. Environmental Science degree advantageous.
- Prior experience leading a team with direct reports of at least one year.
- Working with water treatment is advantageous.
- A full driving license is required.
