In this critical role, you will play a key part in understanding and documenting data flow across an established global financial services organisation. Your expertise will be instrumental in improving data quality, enhancing data governance, and supporting key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Lineage Mapping:
- Elicit and document data lineage information from various sources, including data sources, transformations, and data consumers.
- Utilise data lineage tools and methodologies to create and maintain accurate and comprehensive data maps.
- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to gather and validate data lineage information.
- Data Quality Assessment:
- Analyse data lineage maps to identify potential data quality issues, such as data inconsistencies, redundancies, and data loss.
- Work with data owners and stewards to implement data quality improvement initiatives.
- Business Requirements Gathering:
- Gather and document business requirements related to data lineage and data quality.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications for data lineage tools and processes.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders across all departments.
- Communicate complex data lineage information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather stakeholder input and build consensus.
- Data Governance:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures related to data lineage and data quality.
- Promote data literacy and awareness within the organisation.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Business Analyst with a strong focus on data-related projects.
- Proven experience in data lineage mapping and documentation.
- Experience with data quality assessment and improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
