Job Purpose
An amazing opportunity has become available to join Ireland's national electricity provider who are now hiring for a Head of Group Sustainability.
This role will report into the Chief Corporate Services Officer and will be a member of the extended leadership team.
You will manage and oversee the development and execution of the sustainability strategy. You will lead on embedding sustainability into the culture of the organisation and you will drive excellence in sustainability performance monitoring.
You will lead a high performing team to deliver the strategic objectives of the company and create an engaged and motivated workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, and execution, of the organisation's Sustainability Strategy (focused on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) elements) and associated targets with reference to current and upcoming regulations and goals
- Lead the development and implementation of Sustainability and ESG monitoring and reporting processes throughout the business and the production of the Group's annual Sustainability and ESG reports
- Reviewing initiatives proposed by the business to ensure alignment with the Group Sustainability Strategy
- Embed sustainability into decision making throughout the organisation
- Ensure strategic and business issues are highlighted appropriately to management and Executive leadership teams
- Management of the organisation's Sustainability budget including ensuring cost effective services are procured and delivered
- Represent the organisation externally as required at conferences and external fora.
About You
- Knowledge of the implementation of ESG principles within an organisation, development of and implementation of ESG strategy and experience of developing systems to meet external ESG disclosure requirements
- Strategic and operational thinker with the ability to implement operational solutions in a cross functional environment
- Prior experience of related strategy development, implementation and monitoring
- Prior experience of instigating and managing sustainability programmes
- Strong organisational, planning and process management skills
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand the overall business operating model within the context of the organisation
- Being a commercial state company in a regulated environment
- Ability to build credibility and strong relationships with stakeholders in a cross functional environment
- Excellent presentation and communications skills, verbal and written; ability to take information and present it to stakeholders in a non-complex manner
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, demonstrate resilience and be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity
- Proficient in MS Office suite of products
- Qualified to degree level or professional qualification in a relevant discipline
- Prior experience working in the electricity sector and/or a regulated environment is helpful, but not essential.
