Lead Accessibility Test Engineer

The Lead Accessibility Test Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert, providing strategic direction and technical leadership in accessibility testing. This role encompasses developing and executing comprehensive testing strategies, fostering a culture of accessibility, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed accessibility principles throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement robust accessibility testing strategies and execution plans for web and mobile applications.
- Lead and perform comprehensive manual and automated accessibility evaluations, employing industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Conduct thorough accessibility audits and generate detailed, actionable reports.
- Define and maintain accessibility testing standards and best practices.
- deep understanding of evolving accessibility guidelines, standards, and technologies, including WCAG, ARIA, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert consultation and guidance to development, design, and product teams on accessibility best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with developers, designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to seamlessly integrate accessibility into the development process.
- Champion accessibility advocacy and promote a culture of inclusivity throughout the organization.
- Partner with user research teams to facilitate user testing with individuals with disabilities.
- Contribute to the ongoing professional development of team members through knowledge sharing and training.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in accessibility testing.
- Proven leadership experience in driving accessibility testing initiatives.
- Comprehensive understanding of WCAG 2.1 (or later) and other relevant accessibility standards.
- Proficiency in using industry-standard accessibility testing tools, including axe DevTools, WAVE, JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.
- Experience developing and implementing automated accessibility testing frameworks.
- Proficiency in using bug tracking and test management systems, such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Experience in mobile accessibility testing across iOS and Android platforms.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand code.
