An esteemed and vibrant educational institution, renowned for its research excellence and global impact, is seeking a Project Accountant to join its dynamic Research Finance Office (RFO) team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of one of Ireland's leading universities, supporting the financial management of a diverse and innovative research portfolio.
This is a 6 month temporary contract offering a hybrid working model and competitive salary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure robust financial control over research project accounts.
- Implement institutional policies for the administration of research grants and contracts.
- Manage treasury activities, including fund allocations and transfer approvals to external partners.
- Perform ledger reconciliations and manage account adjustments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver accurate cost statements and financial reports for a broad range of external funders.
- Prepare and peer-review financial journals to align research accounts with reporting requirements.
- Lead external audits across multiple funders, ensuring full compliance and timely report delivery.
- Provide detailed financial advice and policy guidance to Principal Investigators on research agreements.
- Manage scholarship and stipend payments, ensuring compliance with funder rules and budgets.
- Support research invoicing processes and advise on related VAT matters.
- Prepare data for a major ERP system migration, ensuring consistency, completeness, and accuracy.
Minimum Requirements:
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA or relevant accounting qualification.
- Project accounting experience.
- Proven experience in financial management, audit coordination, and budget oversight.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working to deadlines across multiple projects.
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., eFinancials or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing a variety of financial tasks in a complex environment.
