A medical device client in Limerick is looking for an experienced Process Development Engineer to join their team on a 12-month hourly rate contract.
Key Responsibilities
This role includes a broad range of engineering activities, such as:
- Overseeing and executing assigned engineering tasks while tracking and managing team performance as necessary.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and participating in key business initiatives to support company objectives.
- Leading projects related to product development, new process implementation, and continuous process improvements, ensuring efficiency in cost control, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and overall productivity.
- Carrying out day-to-day engineering responsibilities, which may include:
- Process optimization and characterization
- Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Providing direct support to production teams
- Conducting validation activities
- Performing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Troubleshooting and applying structured problem-solving techniques
- Utilizing statistical analysis to enhance processes
- Designing and managing tooling solutions
- Overseeing equipment selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning
Required Qualifications & Experience
- A degree in engineering or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of five years of experience in a similar engineering environment
- Fundamental project management skills
- Strong interest in engineering, particularly within the medical device industry
- Solid technical expertise, with knowledge of catheter manufacturing processes considered an advantage
- Experience in statistical analysis and structured problem-solving approaches
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing methodologies
- Proven ability to drive projects to successful completion
- Strong technical writing skills for reports and documentation
- Hands-on experience with process validation, FMEA, and protocol development
- Awareness of health and safety standards, including machinery safety, ergonomics, electrical safety, and chemical handling
- Ability to create and interpret technical drawings using AutoCAD or Inventor
- Understanding of the new product introduction process
