A medical device client in Limerick is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join their team on a 12-month hourly rate contract.
Core Responsibilities
The role involves a diverse range of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Managing assigned engineering responsibilities and monitoring team performance as required.
- Actively contributing to cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives aimed at achieving business objectives.
- Driving product innovation, process enhancements, and manufacturing improvements while ensuring cost efficiency, quality control, compliance with safety standards, operational effectiveness, and business growth.
- Performing essential engineering duties, such as:
- Process optimization and characterization
- Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Providing hands-on production support
- Conducting process validation activities
- Performing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving using structured methodologies
- Applying statistical analysis techniques
- Managing and designing tooling solutions
- Overseeing equipment selection, commissioning, and installation
Qualifications & Experience
- A degree in engineering or a related technical field
- Minimum of five years of relevant technical experience in a similar setting
- Basic project management expertise
- Passion for engineering and medical device development
- Strong technical proficiency, with a background in catheter manufacturing considered an advantage
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles
- Ability to lead projects from conception to completion
- Experience with technical documentation and report writing
- Proficiency in process validation, FMEA development, and protocol implementation
- Awareness of health and safety regulations, including machine safety, ergonomics, electrical safety, and chemical safety
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings using AutoCAD or Inventor
- Understanding of the new product introduction lifecycle
