- Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization at farmer and stakeholder meetings on both local and national levels.
- Sustainability Program Leadership: Coordinate and lead the Greener Dairy and Futureproof programs, engaging with all relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Work closely with Teagasc on joint programs and regional sustainability initiatives, such as the Signpost Programme.
- Team Management: Oversee the farm sustainability team, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment focused on development and teamwork.
- External Engagement: Engage with external experts and advisors to communicate the organization's sustainability approach and alignment with other industry initiatives.
- Strategic Project Involvement: Participate in strategic farm sustainability projects (e.g., Farm Zero C), providing technical insights and consulting with regional co-ops.
- Initiative Development: Lead the development of new sustainability initiatives tailored to the region.
- Continuous Improvement: Evolve the organization's sustainability approach to reflect legislative updates, guidelines, and best industry practices.
Essential Requirements
- Educational Background: BSc in Agriculture or Environmental Science with a strong interest in sustainability and farm systems biology.
- Experience: Proven experience working with farmers or primary producers in an advisory or consulting role.
- Communication Skills: Ability to simplify complex issues and communicate them effectively.
- Team-Oriented: Strong networking skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Requirements
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of greenhouse gas emissions related to farm systems.
- People Management: Experience in managing teams is an advantage.
