- Responsible for specific sets of processes related to polyurethane foaming.
- Research, develop, implement, and sustain chemical formulations for polyurethane products. Will document results and conclusions of tests. Will develop new tests. Will teach methods as needed.
- Ensure raw material specifications align with processing specifications, equipment capabilities, and the design and performance requirements of products used in bedding and furniture industry.
- Research latest technologies while using laboratory and foam processing equipment to create new test methods, formulations, and processing techniques.
- Develop and validate standard work instructions for assigned processes.
- Develop and facilitate process improvements for assigned processes.
- Work with quality and production to identify gaps between current process and standardised work and develop corrective actions to resolve.
- Develop production process goals designed to meet sales and budgeted targets.
- Initiate and manage capital process improvement projects that meet or exceed sales and budget goals.
- Identify and resolve process and quality problems for assigned processes.
- Utilise data driven solutions to meet or exceed customer product requirements.
- R&D and Quality Laboratory testing, R&D chemical formulating, Pilot batch production in plant for R&D
- Operate and troubleshoot test equipment.
- Improve methods to ensure data repeatability and reproducibility.
- Execute data entry and management.
- Effective communication of this knowledge will be demonstrated by sharing and teaching those within and outside our organisation.
- Support the commercial team to partner alongside key customers with relevant foam developments / ideation.
- Periodic support on training and general foam knowledge building, with both internal teams and key strategic customers
Education
- BSc Engineering degree required, Chemical Engineering preferred.
- 3 or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
