About The Role:
The Category Strategy Manager will lead the development of procurement and contract strategies, managing market engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and benchmarking. This role involves overseeing procurement plans and enhancing relationships with strategic suppliers.
The role focuses on driving procurement strategy through category management, supplier engagement, and sourcing initiatives.
Hybrid working, based in either Cork or Dublin. 24 month fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute category management strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead the creation of Category Plans and Sourcing strategies through stakeholder engagement, spend analysis, and market evaluations.
- Ensure collaboration between the category management team and business stakeholders to meet goals, policies, and standards.
- Manage end-to-end tender processes in line with procurement policies.
- Use metrics and KPIs to monitor and improve category performance.
- Build strong supplier relationships and develop long-term action plans.
- Track supplier performance, ensuring financial and non-financial benefits are realised.
- Support contract management, including reviewing variations and supplier exit strategies.
- Interface with procurement and transaction teams for tactical sourcing and negotiations.
- Prepare monthly reports on category savings, cost reduction, and KPIs.
- Manage business stakeholder relationships, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- Lead and develop direct reports, driving strategic sourcing in a compliant and efficient manner.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant third-level qualification and/or accreditation is desirable.
- At least 7 years of experience in procurement category management.
- Strong leadership, team development, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex issues and deliver results.
- Experience of supporting policies, systems and controls and driving the implementation of progressive policies.
- Demonstarted track record in leadership, change & transformation experience ideally in a large organisiation
- Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions, offering effective resolutions.
