A leading energy organisation is now lookign to recruit an assistant data protection officer for a two year fixed term contract based in Dublin City Centre working on a hybrid office/remote basis, with occassional travel to its Cork office. The role will report to our client's Data Protection Officer (DPO) sitting within the legal division of a leading energy organisation. The DPO Assistant is responsible for supporting the delivery and implementation of a Data Protection service across the organisation. This role will oversee the protection of customer, employee, and all other personal information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of the Data Protection strategy across the organisation
- Provide guidance to the business on Data Protection compliance
- Conduct risk assessments for projects, evaluating Data Protection & privacy-related risks
- Assist the business in conducting Data Privacy Impact Assessments
- Investigate any Data Protection-related complaints and inquiries
- Investigate any alleged data breaches
- Manage and maintain registers associated with Data Protection compliance requirements
- Oversee Data Subject Requests and Data Subject Rights Requests, including triaging, liaising with Data Champions, relevant business stakeholders, and IT, and preparing and issuing final responses
- Develop and deliver ongoing Data Protection awareness programs and in-house training
- Actively participate in relevant data governance groups
- Define monthly Data Protection KPIs and metrics related to functional activities
- Undertake other data/privacy operational tasks as assigned
- Keep current on emerging developments in Data Protection & privacy impacts and implications
- Manage Freedom of Information (FOI) & Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) requests, including triage, liaison with business stakeholders, and preparing and issuing final responses
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Previous operational data protection experience is desirable
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a role requiring the application of analytical skills and sound judgment
- Ability to think and act independently is critical to this role
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Detail-oriented with a technical aptitude
- Proven ability to manage tasks from start to completion
- Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver high-quality work within tight timelines
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to translate complex data protection terminology into practical business activities
- Strong organisational skills, with project management experience would be advantageous.
