Specific Responsibilities
1. Facilities Management
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all buildings, infrastructure, plant, and services on site.
- Manage and direct facilities personnel to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance tasks.
- Utilize the company's CMMS (Certified Maintenance Management System) to manage and track all maintenance and repair activities.
- Prepare and manage budgets related to building maintenance, infrastructure, plant, and services.
- Ensure that all required consents, permits, or permissions are in place for any work undertaken, including those involving external contractors.
- Provide guidance to manufacturing and engineering teams regarding layouts, new equipment, and chemicals.
- Lead initiatives to reduce facility-related costs, such as energy efficiency programs.
- Maintain responsibility for electrical systems, access systems, fire detection, and security systems.
- Oversee site security, including:
- Security systems and procedures (e.g., CCTV, access control, and alarms).
- Management of external security contracts.
- Supervision of contractors and visitors accessing the site.
- Manage the Facilities Business Continuity process.
- Handle project management for facilities-related projects as required.
2. Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS)
- Ensure the site complies with all applicable Environmental and Health & Safety legislation.
- Implement and deliver EHS programs efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure all employees and visitors receive necessary information, training, supervision, and equipment to perform duties safely.
- Manage and coordinate EHS meetings, as well as internal and external audits.
- Obtain and maintain all required Environmental and Health & Safety consents, permits, licenses, and permissions.
- Maintain and update site safety risk assessments in the EHS system.
- Plan and manage EHS training requirements, including First Aid, Fire Safety, chemical handling, forklift operation, and manual handling.
- Oversee and improve site evacuation planning and implementation.
- Manage all waste streams and associated licensing requirements.
- Develop and manage EHS budgets.
- Act as the primary liaison with external authorities such as the HSA and County Council.
- Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives within the EHS department.

- The role requires the ability to respond promptly to unplanned events, such as accidents or evacuations.
- The successful candidate must be comfortable working under pressure and handling unanticipated situations.
- Strong influencing and persuasion skills are essential to encourage behavioral changes and adherence to safety standards.
- Authority to issue a stop notice for activities deemed high-risk or unsafe.
- The role involves frequent interaction with employees at all levels and external stakeholders.
- Sets high-performance standards, holds oneself and others accountable for achieving results, and demonstrates a commitment to excellence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a relevant discipline, or a relevant trade qualification is desirable.
- Formal qualification in Health & Safety is essential.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in facilities management and/or EHS within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
