About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Commercial Lawyer to support a major strategic energy project aimed at enhancing national energy security. This key role will involve providing expert legal advice on a wide range of commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters, ensuring that all legal aspects of the project are handled effectively. The position offers the opportunity to work on a high-profile initiative that plays a crucial role in the country's transition to renewable energy sources, with a particular focus on energy security and infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal guidance across various areas, including commercial contracts, corporate law, and energy regulations, to support the strategic energy project.
- Advise on and support the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of complex commercial contracts, including procurement and construction agreements.
- Manage relationships with external legal advisors to ensure business goals are met while maintaining legal compliance.
- Identify potential legal risks associated with the project and develop systems for reporting and mitigating those risks.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including government bodies and regulatory agencies, to ensure smooth project delivery and compliance with all relevant legislation.
- Offer strategic legal advice on contract structuring, public procurement, and governance matters to support the project's success.
- Provide training and legal support to the project team on matters related to commercial and energy law.
- Maintain close communication with senior leadership, keeping them informed of legal developments and advising on key decisions.
Skills and Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor with approximately 4.5/5 years of post-qualification experience, including at least 2 years in commercial contracts.
- Strong background in energy law, construction law, or health and safety law (preferred but not essential).
- Extensive experience negotiating and structuring complex commercial contracts, with the ability to identify risks and implement practical legal solutions.
- Knowledge of public procurement procedures and legislation is desirable.
- Familiarity with construction contracts and related regulations is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and handle complex legal matters with minimal supervision.
